Zoomorph Contest - Round 2 Entries

This contest was very tightly judged and there were only 4 points separating the top 4 entries in my judging scheme. They are all well deserved. Congratulations to the winners!

1st place - Evolution of species

Energiaelca1 did a fantastic job with this piece. She did a great job with the design of the character with only a few minor flaws that did little to detract from the overall piece. It was clear to see plenty of effort was put into the composition of the background and selection of colours. Overall, I felt this piece was the deserved winner. Energiaelca1 will receive the 1st place prize of 2400 points.

2nd place - Did you hear that?

blankiey showed the highest level of execution with this piece with a mixture of photo composition and digital painting. The amount of detail is fantastic and was a defining factor edging it into 2nd place. I think blankiey also did well with the base photo selection with the model making an interesting expression and he has done well to retain it. blankiey will receive the 2nd place prize of 640 points

3rd place & people's choice award winner - regular selfie

KW-Morph made a piece that was executed to a really high level, however the original stock photo held back a lot of its potential. The low resolution commonly associated with selfie shots really affected the cohesion of the pieces, with the cheetah features of the face being of a much higher fidelity than the unchanged portions of the base picture. Aside from those nit-picks which lowered its score, this piece was one of my personal favourites in terms of character design and blending of human/animal features.

This piece was not only a hit with me, but it was your favourite too. This piece takes out the People's Choice Award with 35% of the total votes!

KW-Morph takes away 400 points for 3rd place and another 400 points for the People's Choice Award:

Afrani4 produced a great piece that was really well executed and highly polished. It was one of my early favourite pieces, however it could have done with a little more blending of human/animal features (particularly the head/face) to really accomplish the aims of the contest. Nonetheless, the overall piece was eye-catching and worthy of a special mention. This piece made it through the first voting round into the People's Choice Award finals. Afrani4 will receive 100 points.

Mr-Ripley used numerous resources and did an impressive job with regard to the composition of this piece. A lot of regard had to be given to the lighting and colour of this piece and a lot of work has gone into making this background and atmosphere really work for this piece. For those reasons, this piece also stood out from others in the pack and deserves a special mention. Mr-Ripley will receive 100 points
